Creating Hope through World-class Science and Innovation

The Obesity and Research Diabetes Institute is proposing a $150m research hospital facility focusing on the obesity and diabetes epidemic. Our primary mission is to reduce the burden of obesity and diabetes on society through research on more effective prevention and treatment strategies. The Institute will have a focus on research and development, creating a facility that closely integrates clinical work and basic science research and provide funding and laboratories to a world-class faculty.

Our Vision
The Obesity and Diabetes Research Institute will aim to improve the lives of those with obesity and diabetes through safe, effective and accessible treatment while researching new and more effective drugs and technologies for treatment.

The Problem of Obesity
Obesity and diabetes has reached epidemic proportions in the United States and many other parts of the world. It has created physical, psychological, social and economic drain on nations. Not surprisingly, it has become the focus of major initiatives from both Governments and the private sector. This epidemic has affected every state in the United States, with the greatest rise in incidence in those whose body mass index is over 40.

Obesity is complicated by metabolic diseases, the most important of which is type II diabetes mellitus. The rise in prevalence of type II diabetes has mirrored that of obesity. Both obesity and diabetes exact a toll on individuals, families and society as a whole and as such it is important to develop strategies that will have a far reaching impact on the prevalence of these diseases.

Current Research
One goal of our research is the advancement of clinical and basic science related to obesity and diabetes and with it the generation of intellectual property. Revenue is utilized for additional research and facilities funding so that the faculty can focus on the science rather than grant writing. Learn more about our current research.

Investor Relations
Our strategy will be to position ourselves, by leveraging our combined clinical and research resources, to become a major research and development pipeline which will be sought after by the pharmaceutical, life sciences and medical devices industries.
